This is so uncomfortable…

By: Elena Jamsek, PA

So you have BV (bacterial vaginosis)…It’s ok…it is not an STD! BV can happen to anyone with a vagina. It is hard to find the cause of this problem but something has happened and the pH in your vagina has changed allowing for a better breeding ground for bacteria. THIS IS NOT CONTAGIOUS!

  • Vaginal irritation
  • Slimy white discharge
  • Vaginal odor

There is treatment!

Now some of you are thinking “yeah I know that treatment all too well but BV just keeps coming back!” Women who used a probiotic vaginal suppository had fewer recurrences of bacterial vaginosis. The suppositories contained Lactobacillus rhamnosus, L acidophilus, and Steptococcus thermophilus. Women who ate L Acidophilus yogurt had fewer episodes of bacterial vaginosis, but not of vulvovaginal candidiasis. So if you’re a recurrent patient with BV maybe try some natural options as well!

Hope this helps!
