4th of July Safety Tips
The 4th of July is a time for fireworks, family, and fun—but it’s also one of the busiest times for accidents and injuries. Since we’ll be closed on Thursday, July 4th, and Monday, July 7th, we want to help you stay healthy and safe so you can fully enjoy the holiday. Here are a few practical tips to make the most of your celebrations:
✅ Grill Smart
- Keep the grill at least 10 feet from your house
- Never leave it unattended
- Use long-handled tools
- Have a spray bottle of water nearby
- If a burn happens, cool it with running water (not ice) and cover with a clean bandage
✅ Stay Cool
- Freeze water bottles ahead of time to use as ice packs and cold drinks
- Wear light-colored clothes
- Rest in the shade between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
- If you feel dizzy or nauseous, go indoors and hydrate right away
✅ Firework Safety
- Only adults should handle fireworks
- Keep a bucket of water handy for used sparklers and duds
- Never try to relight a dud
- Glow sticks or confetti poppers are safer for kids
- Keep pets indoors to help them feel safe
✅ Unexpected Tip: Watch for Food Allergies
- Label dishes at cookouts
- Keep antihistamines nearby
- If someone has trouble breathing or breaks out in hives, call 911
✅ Protect Your Ears
- Fireworks and loud music can hurt hearing
- Bring earplugs or noise-canceling headphones, especially for kids
We hope these tips help you have a safe, fun, and memorable Independence Day! Remember, we’ll be back to serve you on Tuesday, July 8th.
