If you frequently experience mild to moderate headaches throughout the week that aren’t quite as intense as migraines but still disrupt your day, there might be underlying factors in your daily routine contributing to them.

Headaches fall into two main categories: Primary and Secondary. Secondary headaches stem from other health issues like sinus congestion or viral colds, while Primary headaches, such as migraines or tension headaches, arise without a specific underlying cause.

Certain habits in our daily lives can trigger or exacerbate Primary headaches. Here are some common culprits:

  • Dehydration: Not drinking enough water can disrupt the body’s fluid balance and lead to headaches.
  • Alcohol: Alcohol, particularly wine containing tannins, can dehydrate the body and trigger headaches.
  • Poor Sleep: Inadequate sleep can increase the body’s production of pain-related proteins, contributing to chronic headaches.
  • Poor Posture: Consistently bad posture can strain the upper back, neck, and shoulders, leading to headaches.
  • Stress: High levels of stress can cause tension headaches, and fluctuating stress levels can further exacerbate the issue.
  • Teeth Grinding: Bruxism, or teeth grinding, can strain the jaw muscles and result in headaches.
